乐播传媒视频鈥檚 Department of Music recently participated in the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) In-Service Conference in Athens, Ga. Representatives of 乐播传媒视频 included 32 music education students, seven music faculty members and multiple music education alumni.
On Tuesday, Feb. 12, 乐播传媒视频 broke ground on a new band building. The facility will be constructed behind the campus鈥檚 Fine Arts Annex, which is across the street from Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church. The lead financial gift for the new building was provided by 乐播传媒视频 Trustee Pam Rollins.
乐播传媒视频 recently awarded bass fishing scholarships to Mason McCoy from Mount Paran Christian School in Kennesaw, Ga., and Marshall Harrelson from Tallulah Falls School in Tallulah Falls, Ga. Previously a club team, the 乐播传媒视频 bass fishing team will begin competing as an official athletic team for the College in the 2019 鈥� 2020 academic year. Associate Professor of Biology Johnathan Davis, Ph.D., who has a degree in wildlife and fisheries science, will continue serving as the faculty advisor for the 乐播传媒视频 bass fishing team.

乐播传媒视频 graduate Alejandro Lemus-Gomez, 鈥�19, was recently awarded the Davies-Jackson Scholarship to study at St. John鈥檚 College at the University of Cambridge in England. The scholarship provides a unique opportunity for students with exceptional academic records who are among the first generation in their families to graduate from college. With only 28 recipients between 1990 and 2018, the Davies-Jackson Scholarship is a prestigious and rare honor. Lemus-Gomez is the first student from 乐播传媒视频 to earn the scholarship and only the third from a college in Georgia.
乐播传媒视频 will host a book launch for Assistant Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing Chelsea Rathburn to celebrate her newest collection "Still Life With Mother and Knife" on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. The event will take place in the Rollins Campus Center鈥檚 Hatcher Dining Room on 乐播传媒视频鈥檚 campus, which is located at 1 College Street, 乐播传媒视频, Ga. 30582. Chiefs of police, officers and executives from law enforcement agencies across District 9 attended the meeting for training purposes and to discuss other GACP business.

The Campus Gate Art Gallery (CGAG) at 乐播传媒视频 is pleased to present the works of Karen Schwartz. As part of the upcoming 乐播传媒视频 High School Honor Band Clinic, 乐播传媒视频 will host three concerts that are free and open to the public. The first is a guest concert by the Ringgold High School Wind Symphony on Friday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 19, the 乐播传媒视频 Concert Band and Brass Choir will perform at 12:30 p.m. and the 乐播传媒视频 High School Honor Band will perform at 6:30 p.m. All three concerts will take place in Glenn~McGinnis Hall on the 乐播传媒视频 campus, which is located at 1 College Street, 乐播传媒视频, Ga. 30582.
乐播传媒视频 will host 鈥淧hantom of the Universe鈥� at the O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, Friday, Jan. 25, Friday, Feb. 15 and Friday, Feb. 22. The planetarium is housed in the Maxwell Center for Mathematics and Sciences on the 乐播传媒视频 campus, which is located at 1 College Street, 乐播传媒视频, Ga. 30582. Each planetarium show costs $5 for adults, $3 for children and is free for 乐播传媒视频 students, faculty and staff. All shows are open to the public.
乐播传媒视频 junior Hannah Walker of Cumming, Ga., was recently awarded the Beverly Barrow Woodward, 鈥�53, Endowed Scholarship, established by Leonard and Beverly Woodward of Rome, Ga., and granted annually to one 乐播传媒视频 student to study abroad in England at Harlaxton College.

乐播传媒视频 recently hosted hundreds of alumni, guests and friends for 鈥淎 Weekend in the Enchanted Valley.鈥� Weekend highlights included a scholarship luncheon, the 乐播传媒视频 Athletics Hall of Fame dinner, the 1886 乐播传媒视频 Society reception and an all-alumni collegiate tailgate party.
Several students from the 乐播传媒视频 music and musical theatre programs traveled to Rome, Ga., along with their teachers to compete in the National Association of Teachers of Singing student auditions. The event, which included singers from all over the state of Georgia, took place Nov. 2-3 on the campus of Shorter University.
Students at 乐播传媒视频 recently planted 200 daffodil bulbs on the 乐播传媒视频 campus as part of The Daffodil Project. This initiative was developed by Am Yisrael Chai, a nonprofit Holocaust education and awareness organization.
